This new prototype REEB SST steel full-suspension trail bike is ready for an official debut this coming weekend on the Sedona MTB Fest. But at the same time as we’re touring west for an in-person look, we’ve acquired a number of first sneak peek appears to be like on the all-new lightweight steel 120mm travel 29er trail bike…
Prototype 120mm Reeb SST steel trail mountain bike
Just a month in the past Reeb reshaped their aluminum Sqweeb v4 steel full-suspension 29er with shorter 130mm trail, longer 150mm all-mountain & even longer 163mm Mullet enduro model. And now the Sqweeb is about to get a slighter shorter-travel little steel trail brother too.
Tech particulars
This prototype SST is a scaled-back 120mm travel model with lighter tubing all through to bridge the hole between the large Sqweeb and trail hardtails.
The result’s a visually & bodily lighter iteration of the all-mountain bike that includes slimmer, straight steel tubing welded along with hole 3D-printed SLM (Selective Laser Melting) stainless steel chainstay yoke, seatstay clevis & dropouts. The simplified single-pivot suspension design mimics the 4-bar Horst-link Sqweeb with flattened flexing chainstays and a shorter CNC-machined alloy rocker link-driven shock, all rotating on sealed Enduro bearings.
Reeb guarantees small bump sensitivity within the new design, a supportive ramp via the bike’s travel, and a cautious steadiness of dealing with stiffness & basic steel compliance. Built to be a responsive all-day trail bike, Reeb describes it as a singletrack shredder that punches above its travel class with “enough suspension to hit the big lines… like a much bigger bike.”
Full particulars on the lightweight steel Reeb SST prototype trail bike can be revealed this week, and we’ll be certain that to get an in depth up-close have a look at it in Sedona.
